tiff import menu

--------------------------------
This menu lets you convert TIFF files into IcoMetrics images. It works as follows:

  1. You enter the name of the TIFF file in the Input TIFF file menu field. The expected file extension is .tif.
  2. You enter a name for the converted image file in the Image file name field. This is the file you will be creating.
  3. You click on IMPORT TIFF IMAGE.

Depending on the contents of the TIFF file, the system will create a bitmap, greyscale, color or screen image. When the conversion completes, a message will tell you which kind of image was created.

You can inspect the contents of a TIFF file (without importing it) by entering the TIFF file name as above, and then clicking on DESCRIBE TIFF FILE CONTENTS. A window will appear with a listing of everything found in the file. The listing window is just like this help window; click anywhere to make it go away.

You can look at a TIFF image (without importing it) by entering its name as above, and clicking on PREVIEW TIFF IMAGE. The system will set the size of the displayed image so that one image pixel corresponds to one pixel on the workstation screen.

You can preview several TIFF images at once, and you can make blowups or delete them in the usual way.
