modify objects

--------------------------------
This menu lets you modify existing vector data. If you want to add new vector data, use the Add Vectors menu. The menu is divided into three functional categories:

Point operations let you affect one point (vertex) at a time. You can introduce new vertices with the ADD POINTS option. You can delete vertices with the DELETE POINTS option. You can delete an entire object by deleting all of its points, or you can use the DELETE LINES option if it's quicker. MOVE POINTS lets you reposition vertices.

Line operations affect the entire line. JOIN LINES lets you smoothly connect lines that have breaks in them. BREAK LINES does the opposite: it makes two smaller lines out of one big one. MOVE LINES lets you warp a line by "grabbing" a vertex and moving it around. If you grab an endpoint of a line, the other endpoint remains fixed during the warping process. If you grab an intermediate point on a line, both endpoints remain fixed. DELETE LINES lets you remove an entire line from the image.

Respacing a line means removing vertices from a line in such a way that the resulting line differs from the original by no more than a user-specified distance. To do this, enter the distance in the New spacing menu field, and specify the units if necessary in the Spacing units field. Then click on RESPACE POINTS.

Both this menu and the Add Vectors menu have a mechanism for specifying the position of a click precisely in the image coordinate system. To use this feature when you are asked to click somewhere, just enter X and Y values and click on USE KEYIN VALUES. Note that the values you enter relate to the vector image, not the background image, if any. Thus, they may not correspond to the coordinates that appear when you move the pointer across the display.
