measurement menu

This menu is for measuring features in an image. For such measurements to be
meaningful, the image must first be calibrated, that is, the size of the pixels in the image must be
set accurately. The pixel size is determined either 1) by the user when the image is first
digitized, or 2) by performing an image calibration in the Calibrate menu. Assuming your image
is calibrated, you perform measurements as follows:
- You select and display the image, just as you do in the DISPLAY menu.
- You select the units for your measurement by entering them in the Units menu field.
- You click on MEASURE DISTANCE. The system asks you to indicate the path you want to
measure. Do this by clicking two or more times with button 1, to "draw" the path.
The system constantly displays the length of the path. Click on button 2 or 3 to
stop.
You can restrict yourself to horizontal or vertical paths by clicking
on MEASURE HORIZ. DISTANCE or MEASURE VERT. DISTANCE. These measurements only
require two clicks.
