macpaint import menu

This menu lets you convert MacPaint files into IcoMetrics images. It works as follows:
- You enter the name of the MacPaint file in the Input MacPaint file menu field. The
expected file extension is .mac.
- You enter a name for the converted image file in the Bitmap image file field. This is the file you will be creating.
- Depending on how the MacPaint file was transferred to your system, there may or may not
be a resource information in it. If there is resource info, it will usually be 128 bytes long.
You can tell the system to skip over the info by entering 128 in the
Bytes to skip before header field. Otherwise, enter zero. (If you preview the image and it is shifted sideways,
try either 128 or 0 in this field.)
- MacPaint images usually have their own 512-byte header, but sometimes they have no
header. You can handle this situation by entering zero in the Bytes in header field. Ordinarily, this field should contain 512.
- You click on IMPORT MACPAINT IMAGE.
The system will create a bitmap image.
You can look at a MacPaint image (without importing it) by entering its name
as above, and clicking on PREVIEW MACPAINT IMAGE. The system will set the size of the displayed image so that one image pixel
corresponds to one pixel on the workstation screen.
You can preview several MacPaint images at once, and you can make blowups
or delete them in the usual way.
