image display menu
If you are displaying a black & white image, you can see it in pseudocolor by entering a palette name in the Palette menu field, and setting the Use pseudocolor? toggle to Yes, before you click on DISPLAY.
You can overlay a vector image on any other kind of image by entering the name of a vector image in the Vector menu field, and clicking on OVERLAY VECTORS. If many images are displayed, the system will ask you which image you want it to overlay the vectors on.
Whenever an image is displayed on the screen you can blow up a section of it by describing a rectangular area on the image with button 1 (the leftmost button) of the mouse. After you click the first time, the system will display the area to be magnified by drawing a so-called "rubberband" box on the image. Click a second time with button 1 to initiate the magnification process. To abort the blowup, click button 2 or 3 on the second click, or just ignore the rubberband box and do something in a menu.
You can remove images from the screen by clicking on them with button 3 (the rightmost button) of the mouse.
You can measure distances in an image by clicking on MAKE MEASUREMENT, and then clicking twice (with button 1) in an image to define the distance you want to measure. If you want to measure the distance along a curve, you can click repeatedly with button 1 along the curve, and the accumulated distance will be continually updated on the menu. Click button 2 or 3 to terminate the measurement. You can change the measurement units at any time, and the reported value will be recalculated for you.
You can calculate average RGB pixel values in an image by clicking on AVERAGE IMAGE PIXELS, and then defining a rectangular area on your image with two clicks of button 1. The system will average the pixel values within the area you defined, and report the red, green and blue values on the menu. For the reported values, zero means lowest intensity, 1.0 means full intensity.
