image cut-out menu

--------------------------------
This menu is for cutting out pieces of images to create new, smaller images. The procedure is as follows:

  1. You select an image and display it, just as you would in the Display menu.
  2. You set the Use mouse? toggle to Yes. This lets you use the mouse to indicate the area you want to cut out.
  3. You set the Fix cutout size? toggle to No. This lets you specify the cutout area with two clicks, rather than one.
  4. You enter the name you want the cutout image to have in the New name menu field.
  5. You click on CUTOUT WITH NEW NAME. The system will ask you to define the portion of the image that you want to cutout, using the mouse. Indicate the rectangular area with two clicks, using button 1.

You can make the system create the cutout using the same name as the original image by clicking on CUTOUT NEW VERSION instead of CUTOUT WITH NEW NAME.

When you cutout the image, the position of the cutout and its size are registered on the menu. If you need to cutout the same area from image after image, you can set the Use mouse? toggle to No, and the system will use the values from the menu instead of making you use the mouse to define the cutout.

You can also do cutouts of fixed-size images by setting the Fix cutout size? toggle to Yes. When you do this, the cutout width and height on the menu are used, and only one click (the lower-left corner) is necessary to define the cutout area.
