horizon flattening menu

--------------------------------
This menu is for flattening horizons on images of seismic sections. The procedure works as follows:

  1. You select an image by clicking on one of the image categories at the top of the menu.
  2. You click on DISPLAY ORIGINAL IMAGE. The system will display the image you selected. You can adjust the size of the display by entering the width in the Display width menu field.
  3. You click on DRAW HORIZON. The system asks you to draw the horizon you want to flatten. Start at one end of the horizon and draw the horizon by clicking with button 1 at each vertex along the path. Clicking button 2 or 3 will terminate the horizon.
  4. You click on DISPLAY FLATTENED IMAGE. The system will modify the image so as to make the drawn horizon flat, and then will display the flattened image.

You can save a horizon definition by entering a name for the horizon file in the Hor. file menu field, and then clicking on SAVE HORIZON. You can recall such a horizon definition by entering its name and clicking on RECALL HORIZON.

You can save the flattened image in any of three ways:

  1. If you click on OVERWRITE IMAGE, the system will write the modified image back into the original image file. This saves disk space, but destroys the original image irretrievably.
  2. If you click on SAVE NEW VERSION, the system will create a new image file with the same name as the original, and will write the modified image into that file. You can get the original image back by deleting the most recent version.
  3. You can save the flattened image in a completely new image file by entering the name you want the flattened image to have into the New name menu field, and clicking on SAVE UNDER NEW NAME.
