fault removal menu

--------------------------------
This menu is for removing faults from images of seismic sections. The procedure works as follows:

  1. You select an image by clicking on one of the image categories at the top of the menu.
  2. You click on DISPLAY ORIGINAL IMAGE. The system will display the image you selected. You can adjust the size of the display by entering the width in the Display width menu field.
  3. You click on DRAW FAULT. The system asks you to draw the fault you want to remove. Start at one end of the fault and draw the fault by clicking with button 1 at each vertex along the path. Clicking button 2 or 3 will terminate the fault.
  4. You click on ADD DISPLACEMENT. The system asks you to indicate the displacement at some point along the fault. You do this by clicking once on the left side of the fault to select a horizon, and then clicking on the corresponding point on the right side of the fault. You repeat this process as many times as you like.
  5. You click on CORRECT FAULT. The system will modify the image so as to make the displacements you specified come together, and then will display the corrected image.

You can save the corrected image in any of three ways:

  1. If you click on OVERWRITE IMAGE, the system will write the modified image back into the original image file. This saves disk space, but destroys the original image irretrievably.
  2. If you click on SAVE NEW VERSION, the system will create a new image file with the same name as the original, and will write the modified image into that file. You can get the original image back by deleting the most recent version.
  3. You can save the corrected image in a completely new image file by entering the name you want the corrected image to have into the New name menu field, and clicking on SAVE UNDER NEW NAME.
